KUALA LUMPUR (July 23): Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery's Jaecoo has launched its J7 sport utility vehicle (SUV), with a price tag starting from RM138,800.

The company said the J7 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant is priced at RM148,800, while the Two-Wheel Drive variant is priced at RM138,800.

In a recent statement, Jaecoo Malaysia said the premium off-road SUV brand had received overwhelming interest from the market, following months of building a solid network comprising 35 dealerships, a dedicated production plant and parts warehouse to support customers for the long term.

Chery Corp Malaysia executive vice president Leo Chen said Malaysia now has a challenger premium off-road SUV brand.

“Backed by independent innovation, advanced technology, and commitment to quality, Jaecoo embodies a refined urban appeal, evident with our brand philosophy of 'From Classic, Beyond Classic',” said Chen.

In conjunction with the launch, Jaecoo Malaysia noted a special early bird package for all existing bookings and bookings placed up to July 21 for a 10-year engine warranty or up to 1,000,000km mileage.

The company also announced a total of six panel insurers for the Jaecoo Prime Protection Programme (J-PPP).

The company anticipates delivering the first batch of J7 SUVs in the third quarter.

The brand’s dealership network spans across the central, northern and southern regions of Peninsular Malaysia, and East Malaysia.
